Mosquito Surveillance
GRMCD lab technician documenting mosquito counts by species
Testing the water for mosquito larva
Thirty-six light traps baited with dry ice are used to monitor the population trends of various mosquito species from May through September. Traps are set out one night per week within the District. All the trapped mosquitoes are counted and identified. Certain species are sent to the Mesa County Health Department for virus testing.
